Mission, Vision, Values
Who is Indivisible Illinois?
Indivisible Illinois is part of the locally-led, people-powered Indivisible Project network, a grassroots American movement founded in 2016, with thousands of chapters in urban, suburban and rural areas, with at least two groups in every congressional district. Indivisible Illinois engages and empowers people in the Land of Lincoln, the Home of Obama, the Heart of the Midwest, to promote a progressive agenda, elect progressive leaders and realize progressive government.
What does Indivisible Illinois do?
Indivisible Illinois empowers local progressive groups by uniting and amplifying voices through networks, resources, and public platforms in pursuit of liberty and justice for all.
What are the Values of Indivisible Illinois?
Indivisible Illinois believes in direct action organizing through Inclusion, Respect and Nonviolence.
Inclusion: We encourage the positive recognition of differences, regardless of identity, background, or political party. We not only include those from diverse backgrounds, we seek out their participation and welcome their voices.
Respect: We promote an environment of tolerance and fairness. We find common ground, honor good intentions, lift each other up, and work together to allow space for dissent while pursuing a shared goal. Ideas are welcomed and group participation in decision making is essential.
Nonviolence: We channel our immense passion and fierce drive into constructive actions, respecting personal safety and property.
Programs and Projects
Group Leader Networking
Indivisible Illinois hosts regular weekly or biweekly conference call meetings with Illinois Indivisible group leaders. These conferences augment Indivisible National’s regular group calls. In these one-hour meetings with group leaders across the state, we celebrate our successes, plan collective actions and share community organizing best practices. Guest speakers highlight opportunities to mobilize around issues or campaigns. Guest speakers include but not limited to representatives from Indivisible National as well as issue advocates such as Protect Our Care Illinois, Planned Parenthood Illinois, Citizen Action Illinois, SEIU HCIIMK, Illinois Coalition for Handgun Violence Prevention, Sierra Club Illinois, and PASO-West Suburban Action Project.
