Mission, Vision, Values
Who is Indivisible Illinois?
Indivisible Illinois is part of the locally-led, people-powered Indivisible Project network, a grassroots American movement founded in 2016, with thousands of chapters in urban, suburban and rural areas, with at least two groups in every congressional district. Indivisible Illinois engages and empowers people in the Land of Lincoln, the Home of Obama, the Heart of the Midwest, to promote a progressive agenda, elect progressive leaders and realize progressive government.
What does Indivisible Illinois do?
Indivisible Illinois empowers local progressive groups by uniting and amplifying voices through networks, resources, and public platforms in pursuit of liberty and justice for all.
What are the Values of Indivisible Illinois?
Indivisible Illinois believes in direct action organizing through Inclusion, Respect and Nonviolence.
Inclusion: We encourage the positive recognition of di erences, regardless of identity, background, or political party. We not only include those from diverse backgrounds, we seek out their participation and welcome their voices.
Respect: We promote an environment of tolerance and fairness. We find common ground, honor good intentions, lift each other up, and work together to allow space for dissent while pursuing a shared goal. Ideas are welcomed and group participation in decision making is essential.
Nonviolence: We channel our immense passion and fierce drive into constructive actions, respecting personal safety and property.
Programs and Projects
Indivisible Illinois uplifts and amplifies today’s women’s movement by working in coalition with other grassroots and advocacy organizations on issues that matter most such as affordable and accessible healthcare, protection of a women’s right to choose what is best for her own body, the ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment, passage of a living wage in Illinois and more.
Indivisible Illinois aims to increase voter awareness, voter registration and voter turnout for every election at the federal, state and local levels. We do this by working in coalition with grassroots partners to host regular networking events, candidate forums, deputy voter registrar trainings, voter registration drives and other public events that are open to all. We believe that more civic engagement will lead to a more representative government that works for the people.
