9th Annual Picnic NWSOFA-Indivisible, Arlington Heights, IL

A perfect day for a picnic!..  beautiful setting and perfect weather – Mother Nature was watching over us! Great crowd 90-100, good mix of good people. Folks we haven’t seen in years, new excited people, young, old and everything in between.

3-4 of the MFOL (March for our Lives) Palatine High schoolers showed up originally saying only “for an hour” and spent most of the day .. Scott Britten (Dist 14 commissioner)  showed up early and Michelle Mussman (Dist 56) showed up later in the afternoon and shared some words with us.. also Leni, Nick, Jonathan and Karen came up from Indivisible IL9.. Leni was doing a “live” picnic video and later on interviewed the MFOL gals by the lake on Instagram.  Maria Pike from Chicago GVP Survivors Network came later in the day, had a “bunch of newly elected and new candidates” .. and 8-10 brand new members who walked in and said that they found a “home”.. with NWSOFA-Indivisible! 

As a special note ..we did some “hybrid “activities with Zoom from the picnic… We, the picnic, attended the ILSJA event via zoom from the pagoda by the lake noon- 1 pm.. worked great, and they even asked us to talk about the picnic … later in the day the Dale from Wisconsin joined the picnic and the Host (Jonathan) and Kym Garnett attended also … did not go late in the night but had a good crowd from noon right up to 6 ..

Special thanks to all that helped with set up and clean up- Started at 10 setting up with an excellent set up and were done by 8  by the take down crew .. Christine with technical assist for Zoom broadcast, tent and  stayed all day!  Other troopers- Kathy Carter, Jim, Renee, Mark, Harold, and Maria Gallo with the local dems – so organized with GPAD stuff and all the elected officials and candidates that came.

Fun day!! Great Weather and a diverse attendance .. already planning for next years get together..
