Post November 3, 2020 Presidential Election, Grassroots Leaders Across Illinois Form New Rural Caucus
Following the historic victory of President Elect Joe Biden and Vice President Elect Kamala Harris but the loss of many down ballot races for Democrats, Sarah Bingaman from Action for a Better Tomorrow Sauk Valley initiates the first discovery meeting with other rural Illinois grassroots leaders on Thursday, November 19 at 7pm.

Bingaman says “The purpose of this group is to support each other as we go forward following the 2020 general election. It is clear that there is a sharp political divide between rural and suburban/urban Illinois. This has been true for a long time but there are many progressives living in rural areas.”
“I see our project as two fold. One, strategizing on how we can find like minded progressives in our communities. And, second, how to work toward informing our neighbors about what progressive agenda really is.”

Bipartisan Policy Center Celebrates National Rural Health Day on Nov. 19, 2020
BPC will recognize National Rural Health Day this Thursday by promoting how technology can better improve access to care in rural communities. COVID-19 has led to an increase in the use of telehealth, pushing Congress to reduce regulatory barriers to these services. In rural communities, these services have been critical to receiving adequate care long before the pandemic started. BPC’s Rural Health Task Force released a report earlier this year, Confronting Rural America’s Health Care Crisis, that includes recommendations to expand telehealth services permanently in rural areas and increase access to broadband.
