Indivisible Illinois believes that an informed and engaged electorate leads to a successful democracy. But liberty and justice will never belong to all if we stand in silence while states like Texas continue their long-term campaign to chip away at Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision by the U.S. Supreme Court that protects our constitutional right to choose when and if we want to start a family. What’s more, Texas has deputized bounty hunters to go after those “aiding or abetting” abortions in their state.
Let us be clear: we will not go back.
We demand access to abortion on demand. Our collective fight is through a lens of equity for all and centers the needs of those who are most greatly impacted including Black Trans Lives. When abortion access comes under attack we come together to say what happens to one, happens to us all. In Illinois, we stand with a growing list of organizations and grassroots who pledge to march on October 2, 2021 in multiple locations across the state including Chicago and Springfield.
