In Antiracism
Please join our Antiracist Work Group (AWG) tomorrow, Sunday Dec 6 from 10-11am CT
At last week’s meeting, we dug into a topic on many of our minds right now: Georgia. (See resources from that discussion here: https://bit.ly/AWG-notes). As we discussed the state, we said we wanted to learn more about the candidates. So… let’s talk about them! There are quite a few resources here. If you are pressed for time, consider checking out the Policy pages of each of the candidates: Kelly LoefflerSen Perdue, Jon Ossoff, and Rev Warnock. Just by looking at those, it is immediately apparent to see who is concerned about implementing antiracist policies and who is not.
This week’s topic: GA Senatorial Candidates

Sen. David Perdue (R)

Jon Ossoff (D)

Kelly Loeffler (R)

Rev. Raphael Warnock (D)

Stand Up Against Racism in Ravenswood in Support of and Solidarity with KJ

KJ is a Black transgender woman who lives in Ravenswood and protests against systemic racism and discrimination at the corner of Winnemac and Winchester three days a week on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday afternoons between 12 and 4 pm.  On November 22, a man confronted her, burned one of her signs with a lighter, threw her tent into the street, and threatened her with physical violence while yelling hateful slurs. KJ didn’t feel comfortable involving the police as they have been disrespectful and/or dismissive in the past.

KJ has said that she would welcome additional protesters to stand in solidarity with her. Full details about her ongoing protest here. Sign up for a shift to stand with KJ here.

Tomorrow’s meeting will be facilitated by Cynthia W and me.
I hope to see you there,

– Kelly
