Conversation Z
“One-in-ten eligible voters in the 2020 electorate will be part of a new generation of Americans – Generation Z. Born after 1996, most members of this generation are not yet old enough to vote, but as the oldest among them turn 23 this year, roughly 24 million will have the opportunity to cast a ballot in November. And their political clout will continue to grow steadily in the coming years, as more and more of them reach voting age.” [Pew Research]
Conversation Z Mission:
Our mission is simple; we aim to offer a platform to young voters, activists, organizers, and students so that Gen-Z is not just participating in the conversation, but leading it. Too often we undervalue the 18-29 year old vote, and this is the time to elevate those voices and offer resources for them to become better informed, more involved voters. Our Media Director, Justy Marcoviche-Garnett is the Creator and Host of Conversation Z. He sets the stage for our Guests to promote their projects, tell their stories, share their experiences, and encourage their peers to do the same. We have two methods to our show. One is interview style where Justy will host the conversation with the guest(s); and the other is a “take-over”, where Justy will introduce the Co-Host and pass the episode onto them to construct themselves. The “take-over” method will still be edited by NWSOFA and our musical guest is pre-selected and booked by our team.
Calling in Gen-Z
We know that together our networks are booming with inspiring, young leaders whose voices are just waiting to be amplified. We are calling out to them, and it’s time we gave them the space to be the change they wish to see. We are asking, if you know of a Gen-Z individual who you believe would be an ideal candidate to participate in our show, please have them fill out our Interest Form below. We thank you for your support and hope you share this initiative with your networks, family, friends, and any Gen-Z voter you know.

About Ballot Z
Ballot Z is a nonpartisan, online initiative to make resources for Illinois elections as accessible as possible to young voters. Through a website, email and text reminders, and social media, we break down information barriers to voting to get youth voices heard. As we regroup from the November election, we’re looking ahead to the April municipal elections just around the corner. Ballot Z is hoping to expand our reach throughout Illinois going forward, and we need your help! We want to partner with every organization that has our shared goal of mobilizing young voters, and we’re also looking for people to join our team directly and help with our website, social media, and outreach. If you want to get involved or collaborate with Ballot Z, please reach out to us at [email protected].
