In Indivisible Illinois Updates, Miscellaneous

“I cannot do all the good that the world needs. But the world needs all the good that I can do”. That is a quote from a song by my favorite inspirational singer Jana Stanfield. When I get discouraged at the state of the world and current politics I try to remember that I can’t fix it but I can do my part. As part of Truth Brigade Illininos, we know that we can’t fight every piece of disinformation that is out there but we know that it helps for us to not amplify misinformation by commenting on it and, instead, put the truth out there and help it spread. Even a single post on twitter or facebook can have ripples. Yes, there are people whose minds we will never change but most of us have friends or followers who may not be vocal but are listening to what is being said. If we can give them accurate information and point out disinformation, we can make a difference, one truth at a time.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT

73 people joined Indivisible Rural Illinois on Thursday Oct. 7 for A Sad History of Nationalism/White Supremacy in downstate Illinois. Watch here.

Last Thursday, Indivisible Rural Illinois had Benjamin Beaupre on to discuss the sad history of Illinois.

Have you noticed that behind most Republican efforts these days is thinly veiled racism? In Illinois we are just a hair’s breadth from the ugliness that has taken over the legislatures of some other states. Unfortunately, many examples of white supremacy and KKK organizations are a sad part of Illinois history. And, disturbingly, it is very present right now in rural Illinois. Thank you everyone who joined us! We’ll see you November 4, 2021 for our next Indivisible Rural Illinois call!

Indivisible Illinois empowers local progressive groups by uniting and amplifying voices through networks, resources, and public platforms in pursuit of liberty and justice for all. Help fuel our volunteer grassroots work. Donate now.
